brake upgrade q/a

this is what i want. aluminum preferrably 2 or more piston calipers all the way around.

what i have: disc brakes all the way around. i started with that funky 9bolt disc rear but swapped to a disc 7.5 in 10 bolt rear.

info i need. which swap is the EASIEST based on the criteria i supplied above.

thanx.

Honestly they're all fairly easy as most upgrades are of the same type...2 piston PBR calipers with slip fit rotors. First off, what size wheels will you be running? Second, give a bit more info on your car like year model and what rear discs do you have..

I'd recommend C4 or C5 brakes with PBRs out back, maybe Wilwoods up front if you want a little extra power.

as mentioned in the pm i sent. i will put on the brakes 1st and pick rims around that.

it is a 87 GTA with the ws6 package and whatever else comes on a gta.

it is a work in progress. the story. i bought it 1/2 way through a lt-1 swap. it has the following lt-1 motor, 700r4 tranny(argh). suspension wise so far it has all new bushings and end links in the rear, new rear panhard bar, koni 3 way adjustable shocks, subframe connectors and i just came into a set of rear eibach 1 inch lowering springs for the rear and will either get the matching 1 inch springs or the 2 inch springs for the front.

i plan on doing much more to the suspension.
id like to use 17 inch rims but if i have to go bigger i will.

did you read my post about wbody brakes? what do you think about that as well?

only thing i am not flexible on is i have to have aluminum calipers all around, no steelies. and id like to not have to mess with switching any hubs.

i haven't checked but i do not believe it has the 1le front brakes. as far as the year of the rear brakes i am not sure. id say they are close though. both have the steelie single piston rear calipers and i think it has the steelie front calipers as well.

as far as future plans engine mods(probably be happy with 350-400 crank hp) and major weight reduction to help that suspension out as well as the brakes

edit: no wilwoods too much $$$ not enough brake. wth are pbr's what did they come in? can you im or pm me real quick so i can discuss options/prices real quick??????

Some people have no clue as to what they post. Tell me this after I hammer them and put you through my windsheild. I have the most powerful brake setup under a 16" rim you will ever see, and yes they are Wilwoods. Wilwoods are one of the least expensive calipers out there also when you start price shopping the Brandname overpriced Brembo's, Motive's, AP's..etc

Even with the cheapest PBR set-up you're looking to spend over $1,000 for the front and rear swaps....

i re-iterate. what are pbr's? are they an acronym for an aftermarket company? is it a brand that gm used in certain cars... what?

right now i am thinking either c4 or c4hd for front(depending on price) and ls1 fbody on the rear.

(Bobby, replied to your PM)

PBR:

http://www.pbr.com.au/index.shtml

They make the calipers for C4, C5, LS1, 1LE, Cobra, Mustang, and about every other aluminum dual piston caliper on the road. I think the front calipers on my Trailblazer are PBRs
