disk to drum

Car: 1987 camaro lt
Engine: 305 4 barrel
Transmission: th 700r4
disk to drum
i have a 10 bolt drum axle w 273 now, i am putting on a 10 bolt w 373.i want to take the componenets off the drum axle that i have in now and put them on the new axle which is disk.Is this possible? does anyone have any experience with this and are there any sites out there that could help/

Disc and drum axle flanges are different, and you can go from a drum to a disc setup but you can't go in reverse. The reason is that the drum flange will have a taller upper portion which has a big hole for the wheel cylinder to bolt to, a disc rearend flange will not have this part so you can't install the wheel cylinder to it. Notice how the poster cuts the top portion off of the drum flange, you need this part to install the wheel cylinder. If you don't have it, you're out of luck. Just keep the discs.
