C5 brake parts and prices

Here is what I've found and the prices. If you guys have anyother suggestions as far as parts or if you know where to get these parts cheaper, please let me know. Thanks.

Hubs and brackets - $150 shipped - Someone on TGO
Z06 Calipers (New) - $220 shipped - Gmpartsdirect.com
Rotors, stock corvette - $115 shipped - Gmpartsdirect.com
Pads, Hawk Semi-metallic - $60 shipped - Don't know yet
I can mod my own spindles. Anything else I need, maybe brake lines?

Raybetos and Wagner both make good C5 rotors, that can be had for around $25 each.

If you don't absolutely HAVE to have the red powdercoating, you may be able to find a set of low-mileage C5 takeoffs fairly cheap, since lots of C5/C6 owners switch their stockers for the red ones. I recently picked up a pair for $100 that could pass for being brand new.

You still need 2 abutments brackets and all the hardware. I think I only paid about $30 a piece for my rotors from GMpartsdirect and they are crossdrilled and slotted.

Caliper (Red) 88895128 and 88895129

Abutment 12455799 X 2

Boot kit 12530703 X 4

Pin 12530697 X 4

Rotor 10445856 and 10445857

Banjo bolt 11518571 X 2

Crush washer ?

Bolt (Bracket to spindle) 11508133 X 4

Bolt (caliper to abutment) 14067559 X 4

Bolt (abutment to bracket) 39685 X 4 --(Fastenal)
m14-2.0x35mm (allen head for clearance)

Wheel studs 98501-- Motormite

610-323-- Dorman

Pads -- whatever you prefer

Brackets -- various sources on this board

I just went in my old order and I paid $40 for each rotor. I guess they went up $10 since then. The abutment brackets are about $30 each also

I see the c5 brake upgrade can be done on the front, but what all doe sit take for the back conversion? Say if I used the rearend off of a 91/92 z28? Or would it be better to get the rear off of a an LS1?

You can use the LS1 rear end that already comes with disk breaks. The problem is you have to find one with a gear ratio you like or pay a lot of money for a gear swap. Also I think the LS1 rear is just a little wider, not sure about this. I know it will fit though.
Your other option, the one I'm choosing, is to buy the rear breaks off an LS1 including the bracket and modify your 3rd gen rear to accept them. I found complete rear Ls1 brake set-ups for around $300.
Check out this link to see what mods are necessary to mount the LS1 brakes:

Yikes. That's more than I thought. You would probably be forced to change back spacing, otherwise it might look funny. 2 inches on both sides is quite a bit. Mod the 3rd gen rear...

You'll want pads w/the anti rattle clips. I drove about six months on some pads I bought at advance auto w/o clips every little bump, crack, and hole in the road an audible noise from the pads- annoying! GM pads come w/ the clips I've been told. VGX pads also come w/ the clips. Summit sells them, not listed in the catalog cost was about 40bux for the vgx pads.

GM pads aren't much higher priced than that, and they're a factory part...go with the GM pads.

TPl383 is selling them. He posted earlier in this thread. I haven't purchased them yet so I can't vouch for the quality. They are powdercoated though and look descent in the pics I've seen. I also haven't found any negative feedback for him yet, which is good.

You happen to have a part number for the crossdrilled/slotted rotors?

Near Pasadena. I'm not sure if $150 incl shipping but it's still a good price. I think someone was selling em for even cheaper, $110 or something but they weren't powdercoated.

Red Flag? Do you know something that you would like to share about these hubs and rotors? I have seen other getting parts from TPI383 and I was thinking of letting him coat some headers for me. So would you be so kind to explain even in a pm or on the board with flamming.....

Not a red flag at all. All I see is guys wanting "great brakes" as cheap as they can possibly get them. This goes for engines, cranks, heads, and whatever else fits the bill. I'm not putting down anyone's parts or flaming Chris (TPI383) or anyone else for that matter, I'm just stating that the cheapest parts may not meet everyone's needs. Just an opinion that's all.

How have you guys been getting your abutment to bracket (14067559) bolts to fit. The untapped part of the bolt is almost a half inch longer than the 1/2 brack et I have. In other words with the bolt in the bracket the untapped part of the bolt sticks through a 1/2 in. It seems I need a shorter bolt
