master cylinder

looking at changing the master cylinder and was wondering if anyone has done this.

I would like to go to a chrome one like this from summit
SUM-760100 this is a 1 inch bore

would this work I have no idea what the bore is on our rides...help

As far as stock Thirdgens go, GM used a 1" main bore MC on the cars with the Delco-Morraine rear discs, while PBR and rear drum cars got a slightly smaller 0.944" MC.

However, the Thirdgen MC is also a "fast fill" design, with a larger secondary piston, that reduces the amount of pedal travel required for take-up.

That Summit MC is probably not a fast fill type. So, you can expect that it will require a longer pedal stroke, to bring the pistons into contact with the caliper. After that take up phase is complete, pedal effort will either be the same, if you already had a 1" GM MC, or it will be somewhat higher in comparison to what you have now if you already have a .944" MC.

Personally, I like the shorter pedal stroke of the fast fill MCs, so I wouldn't switch. But that's personal preference more than anything else. As long as the new MC has adequate stroke available (and it probably does), it'll just be a difference in feel more than anything else.
