What should I do for brakes?

hey guys I need a game plan on brakes, and I'm not really sure how to tackle it. I have a chance to get some rear discs of a newer 3rd gen, and I'm wondering if I should swap over from my drums to these. what do I need to do this swap, and is there a better alternative, or would this be the most cost effective choice?

then for front brakes, what should I do? C5 swap, LS1 swap? again, what would be the most cost effective choice?

I'm looking for a nice set of brakes, becuase its obvious that my stockers just aren't holding my car good enough anymore. And its getting annoying. I don't need anything like autox caliber brakes or anything like that, just some nice set of brakes for street without spending a fortune...

With 18"s go with C5s since you mention cost effectiveness, they are the best bang for the buck out there. I'll be glad to help you out with your conversion on both the front and rear. The rear discs will be a good idea if you like your current gear setup, if not swap the entire rearend and kill two birds with one stone. What's your budget for the brakes and how much of it can you do yourself? Both the front and rear upgrades will involve some modifications to the spindles and axle flanges if you go that route.

Send me a PM if you have more questions on both the front and rear upgrades, I'll be glad to help you out:

alright I appreciate the offer. this will be a future project, i'm just trying to get a good gameplan set.

I don't really have a set budget, but I can get the money I need to do the swap, so I just need to know how much the conversion would cost, so I know how much I need..

the rearend is done, I put a new eaton posi in there and 3.73's, so I gotta keep the rearend, and I wish I would've started with a 4th gen rear or something. But we all make mistakes...

It depends on how much fabrication I need to do, but more than likely I will be able to tackle everything. I don't see too big of a complication I can't handle with a brake swap.

So stock 3rd gen rear discs is what I should do for the back? becuase more than likely thats what I will start with. and how much fabrication is there in the rear? becuase I would like to get the rears on before summer.

and how much would a C5 conversion cost in the front, and how much fabrication is invovled?
