1le disc rotors
Hey all,
I have an 89 tta, orig 27000 mile car
i think may be selling it soon. Ive had it since about 93 (2nd owner) i never drive it. SO anyway i went to repack the bearing on the front hubs. I noticed some surface corrosion one the rotors. they have never been turned before so i sent them to the local pep boys to get turned. the guy told me if they turned them they would take them to thin and wouldnt do it. I am just curious if the guy know his stuff or is he just trying to sell me new rotors. I have priced them and dont really mind spending the 170 on new rotors (the car is deserving) i just dont like the way some folks do business and dont liek to be forced into it if he doesnt now what he is talking about. Any help would be appreciated. I would love to know what the limit is so i can measure for myself

I doubt they've ever been turned before with 27k miles (or once at best), so... they're fine. The minimum thickness is printed on the rotor somewhere, it may be in mm (probably is).
Surface corrosion? Rust? Did you drive the car? Take it for a drive, I bet they clean up fine unless its major rust. Even if it is, you can still get it off with not taking much off the rotor. Pictures would help, but I cant picture the rotors being round file material.
