another drum to disc

Ok after reading much info Im pretty sure theres alot involved but here it is. I have two full axles one 88 gta disc and one stock 92 rs. The 88 has all the brake stuff master prop ect. It needs disc's and im buying 4th gen calipers for it. my question is instead of scrubbing this old rusty gta gear and rebuiling it can i spend an afternoon and just swap the brackets off the gta rear onto the drum rs rear turn the axles down to 5.8 and call it a day? Ive read post that say yes ive read post that say no and some ive read for even ls1 swaps but im not sure with all the mis information whats true.

ok I got my answer .. I think anyway.

Is it safe to say i can just take the 88 gta disc axle clean it up and attach 94-97 brake calipers and rotor on it?

Also I already have a new set of 88 calipers single piston powder coated. Are these any good? Should i use them or just go with 4th gen ones?
