C-5 Caliper Clearance
Ed, this one's for you or anyone else who can answer this. I have my C-5's installed and I have to use a 1/2" spacer to push the wheel out off the caliper, and I had to do a little radiusing of the caliper on the front to gain more clearance, as for the radiusing, I'm not going to be autocrossing this car so I hope it won't hurt anything. My question is this, how much is the minimun clearance you can have between the wheel and caliper? Do you have to account for expansion of the aluminum caliper when it heats up? Right now, I have about .50-.52 thousandths. Is this enough and what happens as the brake pads wear, does the caliper move to towards the wheel? The design of the spokes on this wheel are right on top of the caliper even though they are 17's. I am looking for advice and help here, since I want to get my car out for cruising. Thanks in advance..

Cool!! I have about a little less than 1/4" at this point and I think I will give it a try, Thanks for your input on this..

Yes, like Rob said, as the outer pad wears down, the caliper will move inward. Your clearance sounds like enough. I doubt the caliper will expand enough to give you an problems, and 1/4" is plenty.
