need master cylinder?
I recently pulled the rear brakes off an LT1 Trans Am, and I'll be going back tomorrow for the fronts. I understand that I'll need to modify the rear axle flanges and install a proportioning valve, but I've seen a whole lot of contradictory evidence as to whether I'm gonna need to take the master cylinder from the LT1 car too. My '85 currently has a factory braking system with drum rears. Does anyone know what I can get away with?

dude,
I've tried the LT1 master. It doesn't work with the brake lines our cars have between the master and the prop valve. I am running an 98&up F-body master, it has the same size lines and the same size and kind of fittings. The LT1 master has a smaller line for the rear I believe and the threads are different. I'm not saying the LS1 master is a direct bolt up you will have to coax your lines a little to make it work or bend up a new set like I did.
