12 Bolt Rear, which backing plate to use?

For all of you that have swapped out the factory rear and put a 12 bolt in, which brakes did you choose? I know I can order a rear with aftermarket brakes (Wilwood Pro Kit for example) but don't want to have the rear brakes stronger than the front ones. The front are C4 HD brakes (compliments of Ed Miller's package). If I can, I would like to put the C4 HD brakes on the rear also as it seems that package would be built to work together.
To do that, what kind of backing plate should I have put on the rear end? Since the backing plate has to be installed prior to the bearings being pressed in, I would like to find out which backing plate to have on the rear when I order it.

Hi Jim...I tried to call you at the number you gave me the other day but it didn't work, sent you a work e-mail as well but I'll reply here for all to see.

When you buy your rear and if the vendor supplies the backing plate, tell them you want to install '93-97 LT1 rear discs. If they don't supply the plate, ask for small GM 10 bolt flanges on it so you can install the brakes when you get the rear. I would assume that they would supply the plate but I've been wrong before. For example, if you buy a Strange rearend, ask for small GM flanges as seen under housing ends on page 86 of their catalog:

Strange Engineering Catalog

The '93-97 LT1s and '89-92 1LE/3rd gen rear discs are the same and are also the same rear caliper used on C4 Vettes from '88-96 so you'll be good to go. With the GM flange you would also be able to install LS1 rear discs if you had the notion.

Thanks!

Ed

Thanks for the guidance Ed, I appreciate it. With the outage, a lot of phones have been moved about, I guess I gave you a bad number...

With the C4 HD package on the front end, what do you think will be the best to put on the rear?

When I ordered my 12 bolt they asked what I was running and sent the correct flanges to mount the backing plates to, you have to have the bearing pressed on after you get your backing plates since they backing plates essentially are a c-clip eliminator, with mosier rear end. LS-1 12" Rotor /LT-1 11" rotor, they use the same bolt pattern as an FYI.

Ed any reason to not use the LS-1, ie. spreading under high braking loads? I have a set of LS1 plates and I was going to replace my LT-1 plates.
