Rear Proportioning Valve???

Engine: 305 w/ Carb
Transmission: B&M Turbo 350
Axle/Gears: Stock W/ Rear Disc
Rear Proportioning Valve???

Hey guys im new to the board and had a couple questions. i have a 83 z28 and i out a 84 rear end with disc brakes on it, but i need the Rubber line and proportioning valve, (witch splits into right and left brake line on rearend) and i cant find it anywhere.. is there a site that would sell them or anything aftermaket that would work??? anyone have any ideas for have an extra hanging around?

The hoses could be gotten at any parts store. Someone will surely know if the 83 had disc brakes ? which I am sure it did. I doubt the 83 to 84 is different part numbers anyway. You can check this out at the local NAPA or whatever , while there simply ask about the DISTRIBUTION block you need to separate the lines, they might have this also.


If you meant the hard metal lines you'll probebaly have to bend your won and flare unless you want to spend big bucks there a few places on the net that will supply pre bent lines.

Allright ill head over to the parts store after work and see what i cant come up with. the dealer said the part was discontinued. well see. thanks for the help.

I just got a rear disc rear end, and I am going to have to get a prop valve..The guy at the junkyard wanted 20 dollars for it, did I screw up by not getting it??? I thought you could get tem at the auto parts.....

Probably. IIRC, GM still has them--at considerably more than $20.

The distribution block and the proportioning valve are still available from GM. The cost for the distribution block and rubber line isnt too bad but, the (disk brake) proportioning valve runs about $100+. As far as I can tell, there isnt much visual difference between the drum / disc proportioning valves so, exercise great care if purchasing it from a used source. Given a choice I'd put out the money for factory new parts.
