Disks on 84 v6 rear end?
Will a disk brake set up work on an 84 v6 rear end. Does it require any upgrades, or is it just imposible and costly. What years did they offer disk brakes in third gen camaro?

The only years disc brakes were offered in 3rd gens were 82-92.
The 82-88 ones suck. The ones to get are the 89-92. They are easy to spot; the old system (made by GM in Saginaw) had cast-iron calipers and one was in front of the axle and one behind, while the later system (made by PBR) had aluminum calipers both mounted behind the axles.
Yes they will work behind a 6-cyl. They're fairly picky; but I haven't noticed them looking up and checking out the motor and counting the cylinders, before deciding to work.
It is possible to graunch disc brakes onto a drum rear; a certain amount of cutting and drilling of the axle flange is required, where the backing plate goes.
Since you generally have to obtain a whole rear anyway in order to get the complete disc package, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to swap the brakes over; it's more common-sensical to just swap the whole rear. But then, what do I know about common sense.

this may be helpful!

IMO this is the way to go. has the good emergency brake setup and are pretty much the latest technology GM came out with for the camaros before they discontinued them. the emergency brake on the 82-97 camaros have a lever set up and the 1998-2002 have a drum style for the e-brake. you are going to have to modify the axle flange in a similar way to put the rear discs on anyway. why not go with something better.
i agree it would be easier to swap rear ends if you have no reason to reuse the stock rear end (ie new gears/carrier).
also make sure you get a new proportioning valve.

yha your probably right about switching rear ends, a 350 is going in the hood anyway so might as well get everything set up as it should. So all 3gens from 89-92 have disc brake?

No; only disc brake cars from 89-92 have disc brakes. Same as 82-88 in that regard.
But like I said, the only years that disc brakes were available in thirdgens, was 82-92. No other years besides those. The best thirdgen ones to get are 89-92.
