Is any sort of noise normal from the brake pedal when depressed?

I was reading up and I saw a post about hissing from the master cylinder. My brake pedal has always let out a bit of a hiss when I press it down. The car stops fine as far as I know, havent really driven any other thirdgens. Another thing to add to my big list?

Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
It ordinarily makes a slight hiss or "spoooosh" kind of noise as you push it.

However, when the diaphragm breaks, it will often hiss ALL the time; or maybe just continuously when the brakes are pushed. Either of those would indicate a need for a new booster.
