Car jerks to the left

When I hit the brakes, my car jerks to the left, it only takes a slight jerk. After the jerk it continues going straight. What may be wrong? I checked my tire pressure, there was a big difference from left side to right, but I corrected that and it actually feels worse when I brake. The brake pads are new, replaced them about 2 years ago but only about 7k miles on them.

Re: Car jerks to the left

this happened to me, and the solution was simply to lube the caliber bushings. they were binding and causing uneven pressure on the pads

Re: Car jerks to the left

This happened to me last year. The car jumped right for a split second and then regained balance. I changed my pads (I have performance friction carbon metalics) thinking that one was glazed over. Then a couple weeks later my wife came home with the left front brake so hot you could smell it from in the house. I thought the caliper had seized and I changed that. to days later the caliper siezed again and I changed it again (thought I got a bad one) two weeks later (with the car still jumping to the right) the caliper slightly seized again. I then talked to a mechanic friend and he told me to replace the front brake hoses. That finally fixed it. Turns out the original (19 year) left hose had collapsed so when I applied the brakes normally the right caliper would react first. However when I hit the brakes hard fluid would be forced past the collapse in the left line setting the brake. When I released the brake pedal the fluild would be trapped and the brake wouldn't release. I should have known that the left hose was collapsed since the caliped on that side wouldn't bleed worth darn.

Re: Car jerks to the left

if it jerks to the left the it means the right side isnt working right
the left side is working better than the right

will be either bad caliper, air in the line, bad hose, or worn tie rod end

any of these parts are dirt cheap, 2- some bucks or less each

good luck
