Help -- remove driveshaft to adjust e-brake?
Urg! So I can get my ratcheting box wrench around the e-brake adjust under the car. only problem is that because of the driveshaft I can't actually move the wrench. I read on another thread where someone did not have to remove the shaft. How do you adjust the nut with the shaft in place? The car is an 86 IROC with 4 wheel disc

all i can think of is either drop the back half of the driveshaft(leaving the yoke in the trans to prevent oil flowing out) OR jack up the back and put jack stands on the frame rails by the front of the LCA.. then you can let the rear drop down.. hopefully that will give you enough room.. if not, then just pull the yoke out of the trans and put a pan under to catch the oil..

i usually have the rear of my car jacked up when im working on the driveshaft and brakes and such, and i can take the driveshaft out and no tranny fluid ever came out, but like said above, you car remove the caps from the pinion yoke and pull the driveshaft leaving the trans yoke in and it should work fine for you

Sometimes what appears to be the tougher route is the easiest. I'd drop the drive shaft (and scribe it and the pinion yoke so the shaft goes back in the way it came out). You won't loose enough fluid to worry about.

I spray painted one side of the pinion yoke in red so it always goes back in the same spot. Just jack the back up and drop the back part of the shaft .
