New brakes and rotors = what an absolute mess.

Ok, my car broke fine before, but could have been better. So we decided to get new rotors (here: http://www.cquence.net/chevy-camaro-...598e0caa3f3144) and new hawk pads.

Well all went well, accept when we tried to bleed the lines (we have a tool for this). The back bled fine. We could bearly get anything out of the fronts when we bled them. So we took the bleeder nut right off, and with me smashing the brakes, finally some came out. So we put new fluid in, go for a drive, and the car will BEARLY move. If I jack up the car, I cannot turn either of the front wheels with my hand.

The car was fine before, what could we have screwed up? We took the caliper off, rotor off, new rotor on, compressed piston, put the new pads on, then slipped the caliper right over the rotor, then attempted to bleed the lines.

Pretty sure its yor master cylinder. It was probably old to begin with and when you first pushed the caliper pistons in it broke the check valve in the master. Now its probably loose in there not releasing the fluid back when you get off the pedal. Change the master cylinder.

Damn, I hope that's not the case. I'm going to check the flex line when I get home just in case. I am having trouble getting fluid out of the front brakes when I try and bleed the system.

Ok, little update here. I'm pretty sure both my flex lines collapsed. Hope that was the root of the problem.

Change the brake lines first, masters rarely fail.

Wow, the problem all along was my flex lines were partially collapsed. When I bled the lines, I guess they collapsed all the way. Put new flex lines in, bled the fronts with no problems now, and the car stops about 200 times better between working flex lines, and the new pads and rotors. I am one happy camper.

I had the same problem when I put new pads in my front brakes, my passenger side caliper was locking up and not letting go. That's why I sprung for the stainless steel braided lines when I upgraded to the C5s.

I'd like to do a brake upgrade one day. But these are good enough for me for now.

Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
Re: New brakes and rotors = what an absolute mess.

I would suggest replacing either of them completely.
