I finally got all the parts together and installed my c5 front brakes today. They came out very well and look killer behind the wheels, dont know how they work yet, car is not finished, but a vast improvement over my old crappy single piston iron calipers. Wheels are 18" centerline daggers

 

Did you put those brakes together, or did you order them as a kit??

 

i bought the spindles/hubs/brackets assembled, from another member here at TGO, the rotors are factory z06 rotors from ebay and the calipers are 2004 zo6 calipers also from ebay.

 

Looking good Phil, I hope to get similar setup on my car.

Hey, Ed, I see these C upgrades and I recall not too long ago that Dan Burke, AndyZ28 and others (I remember your asking a ton of questions) succeeded in the 1LE upgrade. At that time, the 1LE and Baer brakes were about the best that a thirdgen car could achieve. Times have changed! Still, I'm satisfied with my 1LE front/rear combo. Keep up the R&D.

nice brakes, i am doing the same swap from parts pieced together. i got all my stuff - spindles/hubs/and brakets from Neil. and I am getting the hubs/brakets from Ebmiller, and finally modding the spindles myself.

Total cost is going to be around $720 for full C5/Z06 front brakes with sloted, drilled and zinc washed rotors.

How much were those ebay rotors? are they washed?

 

i think they were a whole $125 for both, they are stock replacements, delco i think, so i do not believe the are zinc washed, but im not sure. I think the whole setup was less $700

I got mine on over the weekend. And DAMN. They are great. i think I did something wrong though. The bleeders are supposed to be on the top right? I installed them the other way around and the bleeders are on the bottom... When I bled the lines I had to take the caliper off the hub and hold it upside down. I had beek working for 5 hours so I wasn't gonna witch them around just yet. I drove the car and it works great, but I just wanna know if today after woork I should go back and swap the calipers around?

 

yup, the bleeder goes on the top.
