Front 1LE Disc Rear Drum

I have front 1LE brakes I purchased from SSBC and the rear are stock drums. If I replace my master cylinder, that I feel may be bad, what would happen if I replaced it with one for the 1LE package? I thought maybe the rear would lock up since the drums did not need as much pressure. Then again isn't that what the combination valve is for?

From Dan Burke's site:

Master Cylinder: p/n: 18014286 - Same as the J50 option drum brake equipped cars from 1984-up. If you have drum brakes, you have the right master cylinder [for the 1LE set-up]!

Yup, the master cylinder and booster are the same. You are looking for a proportioning/combination valve to change from rear drum to disc. Some add an in-line adjustable one that you can regulate through trial n error, or you can get the rear disc specific one to replace yours.

Re: Front 1LE Disc Rear Drum

I know I would need a new proportioning valve if I switch to rear discs. The thing is when I look up new master cylinders they have one for 1LE with rear discs and the standard one for front disc rear drum. Does anyone know the difference between these?

You need to read the info in the following link:

By the way, I've completed the 1LE front and rear swap.
