The bunny needs some imput from Mr Ed
Catchy title? I figured it would get you in here
Gotta question you may be able to help me with pertaining to the new C6 Z06 calipers.
Have you tried, OR, do you have the products to try a C6 Z06 Caliper onto a smaller dia z51 rotor (13.39" I believe) and will it radius the outer edge without the outer caliper pads breaching above the rotor edge?
Or have you even tried a smaller 13.06" rotor with thoise same calipers?
I am curious and trying to find out just how small of a rotor I can get away with or do I have to go with the 14" factory size rotor with those calipers so the pad does not run off.
I am trying not to buy some and do the trial and error thing then the return game.
Thanks for any help Ed or anyone actually that can physically give me a factual answer.
Thanks, Dean
I have a project vehicle I am working on and would like to go C6 Z06 replica wheels but in a 17" front/ 18" rear stagger. If not then I will be faced to do to 18/19 stagger. I have better tire options for my needs in the 17/18 combo.

Hey there...
I'm sure it can be done using another bracket besides the C5 bracket, and luckily I have a full front and rear C6 ZO6 setup on hand along with C5 and Z51 rotors from other cars. The pads shouldn't be an issue but the cast lugs on the ZO6 caliper probably will be the issue. Using the 14" rotors, they bolt on just as C5s do but using a smaller rotor, the lugs and their mounting bolts will most likely hit the spindle if installed as they currently do. Now, should I be able to rotate the caliper down to where it is clocked like C4 and LS1 calipers mount, this may not be an issue.
Another issue I currently have is time...I'm backed up probably until the first of the year with work schedule and custom projects already on my to do list. I should be able to quickly fit up a C5 setup over the weekend and then play around with the calipers and rotors a bit while working on the kits I have on order.
We'll see what we can do for you. I will be posting pics, info, and new threads over the weekend so check back.

Im sorry Ed, Its not for a 3rd gen. Mounting is not and issue, I am just worried about the radius and was wondering if you had one you could quickly just hand fit a caliper over a smaller diameter rotor to see just how small a rotor the larger C6 Z06 caliper will work with- Again, I know the designed rotor aize is 14".
I would like to see if I could get the C6Z06 caliper under a 17" C6 Z06 replica wheel. I am looking to do a custom application for my "89 Chev C1500 truck.
I am going a C6 Z06 Vette theme with it hence why I want Vette calipers and wheels.
http://www.cardomain.com/member_page...2_145_full.jpg
'06 z06 style hood, shark gill fenders, it'll have Vette paint, Vette brakes, Vette wheels, I plan to put Vette valve covers on my motor also just to go with the theme under the hood. It has a Currie 9" and an ACPT CF driveshaft amounst LOTS of other goodies already. I am giving her an ovrhaul after a bad accident.
http://www.cardomain.com/member_page...2_146_full.jpg
Now if this info I seek does work where the radius of the caliper works on a smaller radius rotor without the outer pads arching out of the rotor face edge, then a kit could also be developed for 3rd gens using that info using for example a 13.06 rotor with the C6 Z06 caliper and and fit it under a 17" wheel. (I understand the cast lug issue and the 3rd gen spindle- that will still be another hurdle for those wanting to try this IF and ONLY IF first we find out if a smaller rotor will work with those calipers)
You know me, I'll make it fit the spindle if I know the arch distances will work, I will find an offset hat amd machine my own bracket-
Again, I am just asking quickly if you had one you could possibly check for me before I have to buy a few and find out I have to send them back and buy larger rotors and wheels.
I have access to Bridgeport CNC milling machine. My team owner has this baby in his garage and is teaching me how to use it. THese are custom grids I machined for a lightweight portable scale rack we are building and the scales will Longacre scales will sit atop themwith adjustable feet that fit into the center hole for uneven pavement surfaces. I am getting pretty go with this thing but the Mastercam program and building toolpaths is what I have to learn alot more. http://www.cardomain.com/member_page...2_142_full.jpg
THanks for any help Ed. Its not 3rd gen related in this case but the info could be of assitance for future 3rd gen projects.
Dean.

Ok then, in that case... I'm sure it cane be done. You have a 5x5 bolt pattern right, on a stock 2WD spindle? I'm thinking of a 2 piece hat and rotor setup do give more offset to that big caliper, then just adapt it over. I'll see if I can get a spindle from the local pull a part and give you more input when I get to it. Time frame for this?

Ed, I am not asking to buy a setup from you. I was just asking as a friend if you had the caliper and a smaller rotor on hand if you could quickly fit them and let me know if a 13" rotor would work on a C6 Z06?
I thought this was a tech board to ask tech questions. I never get an answer to anything when I personally need some help. I tend to think my questions are beyond this website capabilities. I figured you of all people cold quickly help me on this.
Thank you but never mind. I have already solved this problem a few days ago with another decision since I could not find my answer without just buying the parts myself from GM and then returning them.
I thought I was clear
Does a C6 Z06 caliper work with a 14" rotor- Yes we all know it came with that size rotor on the C6 Z06 Vette.
So question 2) Does a C6 Z06 caliper work with a 13.5" rotor(Yes or no answer)
If yes then- Does a C6 Z06 caliper work with a 13" rotor (yes or no answer)
If yes then so on, and so on.
Again, I thought I was clear what I was asking. Don't know how much simpler I can make the question.
So mcuh for asking tech advice on a tech board- I guess we only try and sell things here. My Bad.

And I'm not trying to sell or market anything to you, Dean. I'm just brainstorming on how I would do it by walking through by paces to see if we were on the same page and stuff so I apologize if I went in the wrong direction. I did only mention INPUT in my response. I have a lot of parts in my shop that I can't use myself for this same reason...research.
So given that:

Yes, absolutely.

Probably but I'll try it sometime this week, I'm not sure of the radius issue and it will be putting the caliper close to the 2WD spindle but let me see and then I will give input from there.

My appologises Ed but this is where you lost me with talking about getting a spindle. I was just talking about the caliper to rotor radius range.

No problem man, I understand and I'll get back to you on it, with pics as well.

Re: The bunny needs some imput from Mr Ed
I appreciate it, but save yourself the rouble. As stated above I have figured out another solution and am going to 18" fronts and 19" rears rather than trying to fit the calipers under 17" fronts with smaller rotors.
I currently have run 275/60-15's on the truck for years with a load rating of 107H and a dia of 28".
I am upgrading because I just can't find a decent tire in a 15 anymore. I am going up to a 285/50-18 on front @ 29.2" dia and a load rating of 109W.
Back will be a 295/45-19 @ 29.6" dia and a load rating also of 109W.
All is good and I can just fit the caliper with the proper 14" rotors up front.
When I do order the calipers, I will slip fit them over my 13.06 rotors for kicks and giggles on the Camaro and see how they marry to eachother.
Thank you anyways.
