Will a 4th gen Master Cylinder fit in my 89?
I was looking at swapping the master cylinder in my 89. It currently has rear drums but I will be switching to rear disc (someday soon).
Just wondering if a 4th gen Master Cylinder will fit in my 89?
Thanks

Yes, it bolts on but you will need to bend some new lines to go to the prop valve and may need new fittings...

No it bolts directly to the 3rd gen booster, only mod necessary is to have new lines re-bent.

It has the same mounting flange, bore size, and stroke if I'm remembering correctly. The major difference is the reservoir which stays cleaner, has slightly more capacity, seals better to keep moisture out, and is easier to bleed with a pressure bleeder.

I think I remember someone onhere doing this and they sent out there assembly to a comany to have new lines custom bent for them. I have the 4th gen parts sitting on the shelf waiting to go inbut I just need the lines done and havent got to that part of my project yet. Maybe if I find the company that can make lines then i will open the hood

I just put a LS master cylinder on when I changed over to new metric lines. Did a little pushing but certainly didn't need any new lines rebent for it, I had everything off at the time so I just bolted up the prop valve to the M/C and then bent the lines so the holes on the prop valve mounting plate lined up with the holes on the master cylinder.
Now I am sure customs would be easier since then you don't run the risk of cracking or kinking your brake line, but fwiw it can be done with what we have.

Great......
I wanted something different that stock. I was tinking of either painting the 4th gen piece black (except the resivoir) to have it blend in with the engine bay. Or I may buy the wilwood polished piece.
Just need to make mine a little different that the next guy.
