87 GTA Rear Brake issues...what to do?
Here's the scoop:
The parking brake on my 87 GTA has been getting worse for years. We removed the rear wheels and took a look at the calipers, rotors, pads, etc. - They all looked great! Kindof odd for brakes that haven't been changed in a decade...
That being said, when we put the caliper back on the rotor, there was very little force required to push the pads apart far enough to fit on the rotor - so little that I think the caliper is locked up (which would explain why my parking brake doesn't work no matter how much it's adjusted).
So - what would you do if you were stuck with 87 Iron calipers on the rear of a 9 bolt? What's the most cost efficient route? Best performance? Middle ground? I'd love it if PBRs would swap easilly, as this car would be a great daily driver. But I'm open to bigger, more "fun" options - so long as the parking brake works and hopefully I can keep my GTA wheels.

Swap to PBR's, I may have a complete set-up including brackets for you soon as I'm switching to a Moser 12-bolt with Bear PBR's this winter...

So what is the install process for PBRs? New rotors, calipers, pads....and? I'll search just to see if this is a known topic, but any clues or a link would be great.

To swap them you will have to remove the axles, have the bearings and retainers pressed off, swap the caliper brackets, press on new bearings, seals, and the retainers (may as well replace them while they are apart), re-install the axles, put on new rotors, calipers, hoses, parking brake cables, bleed the system, and adjust the parking brake tension... You're done!
