Master Cylinder: Prop Valve Question

My aging MC is starting to fail in significant ways. Also, I have a new rear axle with PBR disks on it that I plan to swap in replacement of the current drums. I already bought a new master cylinder with the prop valve for the rear disks.

Question:

Can I go ahead and replace the master cylinder with the new one that has the prop valve for rear disks and still use that with the drums?

Does that question make sense?

Re: Master Cylinder: Prop Valve Question

The drum M/C is correct for PBR's. Check the following link for the info you require:

Re: Master Cylinder: Prop Valve Question

Thanks James!

The situation is that I have a rear axle and PBR's from an '98 GTA sitting in my garage now. I also have a Master Cylinder (Part: 18014287) from GM Parts Direct with the newer prop valve assembly. My current MC is *clearly*going bad.

What I think I am reading in your message is that I cannot replace the old MC with the new one (different prop valve) to run the drums a little while longer.

Sound about right?
