Brake pedal has alot of movement when braking.
Brake pedal has alot of movement when braking.
I've recently replaced my braking components with exception to the Master Cylinder and the combination valve and the brakes arent at the top of the pedal as I'm used to. I dont know if thats common for that car or not so I wanted to ask if its normal or if I may be looking at a possible MC replacement to regain the slop in travel before the brakes engage. I'm talking probably 2 or more inches of pedal pushing before you feel the brakes engage. Usually 1 inch is all I've ever experienced and wanted to ask the experts on it
. I've bled the system of air and flushed it out to replace the old nasty brake fluid with fresh. The brake light does not come on so its not showing a malfunction there as the bulb works with the EB.
I'm hoping just the MC since its easy to get to
. All new rotors & drums and calipers and wheel cylinders installed as it was sitting in a field for 10 years probably with no action and who knows what was built up in it over that time.
Any comments welcome

I know you don't want to hear it, but try more bleeding. Then, if that fails, bleed again, and again, and again. It's amazing how much bleeding is required versus how much bleeding we really want to do. I bled mine about 30 times a day, all around, for 2 days - and that's what it needed, more and more bleeding. Start with pass rear, then driver rear, then pass front, then driver front. Keep working around and around the car.
If you have to do the MC, you'll have to bleed all over again anyway - might as well try some more bleeding first.

if your rear drum brakes are not properly adjusted, you will have a low pedal also
