prop valve etc, question
I stumbled upon a 4th gen rear diff complete from caliper to caliper at the local yard and am interested in what parts i may ned to swap. I know that i've got to modify the e-brake cables. But what about the master cylinder can i just get a different proportioning vlave or a whole new unit or what? Also will stock wheels 15" fit on the rotors or do i have to go to 16"'s?

Not sure about the 15's - my 15" spare wouldn't fit over my 4th gen rear, but it was from an LS1 car - don't know if the LT1 rear discs are sized different.
You can just get a prop valve for a rear disc car and swap it - no need for a master cylinder.
You may need some fittings for the brake lines - on my 1992 car the lines connected right up, but not sure about other years. You may be able to swap the brake line T-block off your old rear so your lines connect with no problems.
You know the 3rd gen rear wheels will stick out about 1.5 inches more on each side right? Some don't like it, I can live with it for the posi 3.42 geared rear that only cost me $150!

Thanks for the info newbie
Yes i am aware that the tires will come out about 1.5" on either side went out and looked at it from all angles and my son and i both agree it might actually look better (more filled). I know i'm going to have to replace the axle bearings and i'm also going to swap in my current 3.42 gears and replace the limited slip unit as the ones in the donor car i dont know the mileage on. My gears have maybe 3-5k miles on them but the auburn is shot so i was going to replace it anyways.I hope the 15" wheels will fit as i have new tires on it and it would suck to have to get new ones all over again.I am glad to know that i can just get a proportion valve and swap it in. Are they available new or only used-salvage or online?
