brake dash light = ?
Hi everyone. I'm back again with another question for the forum members. I don't really know how-to start this post so I'll just post events as they happened.
This past Saturday I drove my '89 firebird quite a few times (3 times before my problem, roughly 4 miles each time) and braking was exactly how it was for the past 3 weeks of me owning it. I got to work and the car sat for 8 hours with snow falling, I go to leave after the lot was plowed and my dash brake light was on. Since this is my first car and I don't know much about what I'm doing, I asked the store manager and he said my parking brake was probably on (but the thing hasn't worked at all since I bought it). I screwed with it for a good 20 mins and decided that it was too cold to continue to mess with it and proceeded to drive home. But as I left the parking lot I realized that the car wasn't braking until the pedal is almost fully depressed and even when it is depressed all the way the car slides a tad...
So anyone have an idea what is wrong with my brakes? My uncle says I probably just have air in the brakes. My friend says it sounds like just my rear brakes are working / uneven braking pressure. I would be more than great full if anyone could help me.
Thanks!

Re: brake dash light = ?
they are correct
either is air
or the balance from front to rear is uneven
it will take visual inspection to figure out which
not much we can do for you from behind a monitor

Thanks for the quick reply and help.
@JamesC: It may have just been the weather, but as I coming to a stop the car would slide forward a few inches.

Re: brake dash light = ?
The light comes on with "uneven braking pressure" between the front and the rear brakes. The sensor is in that fugly prop valve just under your master cylinder. Replace all the fluid in your brake lines with new stuff. Should change everything. Just remember, check master cylinder fluid level often, and start with the wheel furthest away from the master cylinder. (rear passenger)
