removing parking brake from car?

i have a 1990 camaro rs with a auto trans. i was thinkin bout removing my parking brake from the car completely cuz im in the process of doing a custom console and i really dont need it. my car is a auto so i jus put the shifter in park. is there any reason i shouldnt take off my parking brake? i mean i can see why u need it in a manual cuz thats the only way 2 park the car. but do you think i can jus remove the entire parking brake assembly off of the car and it would be ok? sorry if this is kind of a stupid question. thanks 4 all the help.

Re: removing parking brake from car?

Yeah you can remove it.But as far as why you should keep it.
Park your car on a steep hill place it in park without the parking brake and you just might have a problem getting the car out of park.

Re: removing parking brake from car?

you should keep it because your tranny is not a kick stand. ever park on a hill and hear a big clunk when pulled out of park, that can't be all that great for things.

I don't know the inspection laws where you're at, but in PA you will not pass inspection without a functioning parking brake. Whether its a manual or an automatic transmission.
