mismatched parking brake
I've been looking for a while in the search function and i have gotten vaugely related things, but nothing direct which suprised me because alot of swaps have been discussed but none of them are stickied, anyway
i have a 92 rs i bought from someone that was on the board, the car was horribly hacked up to say the least, it had a disc swap done on the back, but i've figured out they are the older style discs (guy i bought it from hosed me there, bad on me for trusting him) at any rate, the parking brake cables are gone
does anyone know how i would go about connecting them back
I assume i would need the 88 and earlier rear cables, but would i want to get an 88 or older front cable, or do i need one of the 89 and up self adjusting cable to match the parking brake lever in the car, thanks

Re: mismatched parking brake
Too bad you got hosed like that, looks like he punted to you. The parking brake cables are gone since he/you can't hook up '88 and earlier brake cables to a 1991 car. Here's a few options you can do.
First, convert the trans tunnel e-brake cable to an earlier adjustable one ('85-88) and install a set of @ '85-88 rear disc cables to match just as you stated. Your '91 will not have the adjustment the earlier cars do.
What is the gear ratio on the rearend you have now? Have you thought about doing a rear conversion to the correct '91 rear discs? JamesC covers those steps in this popular thread:

All is not lost but you have some work ahead of you.
