Brake Proportioning valves

done a couple of hours of research and about 10 GM part numbers later...i'm back where i started with this thread...

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/brak...?highlight=1le

As JamesC informed...and i quote:

"Here's the whole quote from Mr. Burke:

14089496 1989 1st design: M1.0 tube nut threads (For 1982 - early 1989 applications) [This is the one that I used on my 85 to upgrade both front and rear to 1LE. As far as I know, the only difference between the 496 valve and 840 is the threads.]
10136840 1989 2nd design: M1.5 tube nut threads (Late 1989)
10136840 1990-'92: M1.5 tube nut threads."

I have an 88, put the rear in from a 99, put the booster and master in from the 99, would like to use a 3rd gen proportioning valve instead of the monstrosity of a prop valve used by the 4th gen, besides the fact that i would have to change my brake lines around as they don't use the bigger rear fitting anymore. On my lines, i noticed that i have two smaller fittings for the front, and one big fitting for the rear line going into the proportioning valve. Does this mean i'm limited to the "1st design"??

Got confused by what was meant by thread whether it was threads going to the master or threads to the brake lines. Thanks in advance!

I'm also hearing that people using drum prop valves and switching to rear disc are potentially locking them up?! But then i'm hearing complaints of people using the "right" prop valve and in the air the rear wheels will continue to spin (obviously not alot of braking power going to the back). Confused about this. I put my truck in the air, which has front and rear disc, and maybe the front will stop ever so slightly faster than the rears, but the rears will stop. So i don't understand on a standard car (which seems to be what people narrow it down to) they keey rolling?

Then i read that some people are doing fine with their drum prop valves. So i'm in a spin as to what i should do, use the stock prop valve or search out this illusive 4 disc brake prop valve. I paid for a rear disc axle, i just want it to work like it should, and have better stopping capabilities than i started with the drums.

Can i use a newer 90-92 w/out changing any of my lines?
