E-Brake Handle Replacement

Hey all. New to the forum. My nanme's Russ and I just bought a 1990 GTA with the 305 5 speed. It's black on Black. Anyways... I am trying to install a new Be-brake handle as it didn;t have one when I bought it and for some reason the handle I bought doesn;t seem to fit. W work at the local GM dealer and bought it using the vin of the car and still it doesn't seem to fit. the base has 3 mounting holes and the car only has 2. The cable seems to be too long for the handle. Any insight or help is greatly appreciated. Thanks
