Brake Upgrades
Brake Upgrades
I want to upgrade the brakes on my 91 Formula 350. Unfortunately I'm an idiot when it comes to this and even in searching the boards I'm not sure what the kits mean and what I should get. It has aftermarket rims but AFAIK they are the same size as stock (they fit 245/50 16 tires anyway). I'm not looking to change the wheels. I thought about the LS1 conversion kit but I checked bigbrakeupgrade.com for a price and it says it's "CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE". Is that even the kit I should get? If there is a thread that explains it all to a dummy like me I'd appreciate a link
Thanks!
EDIT: Also, it's possible I would just need new pads without changing major parts of the brakes. The car has appox 43000 miles on it. I want more stopping power but prefer it without having to tear the whole car apart or spending $2500. So if any of the pads from these upgrade kits will work with stock brakes maybe that will work for me. I am not racing it or anything and it's more of a weekend driver. The stock brakes have always just seemed to stink

Pads are specific to systems, so you can't throw LS1 pads, for example, on your OE brakes. You might consider new rotors (or turn them), Hawks pads, Earl's braided lines, and a flush with new fluid. Might be enough to make you content with OE.

Re: Brake Upgrades
Get ahold of ebmiller.
I got the front LS! brake upgrade for my car---night and day difference. It's all bolt on stuff and a very good deal!
Don't throw good money after those crappy stock brakes
