Do these brakes look right?

I just got this rear end from the junkyard today. It is a 9 bolt with a posi 3.4X gear ratio and disk brakes. However, when I got home, I noticed the calipers looked funny. The calipers are on opposite sides of the rear. The passenger side caliper is ahead of the rear and the drivers side caliper is behind the rear. This isn't normal is it? How can I fix this? Should I just go back to the junkyard and exchange it for a different rear?

Thanks,
Mike

Re: Do these brakes look right?

I have the same on a 10 bolt rear with cast iron calipers. From what I've heard, it was one of GM's ways to make tooling easier by making only one casting. Both of your calipers have the same part number

Normal. As an FYI, the PBR's are both on the rear.

Re: Do these brakes look right?

Wouldn't that cause more torsional twisting than if the brakes were on the same side of the rear?

How easy is it to switch back so it looks right... just need a new backing plate and caliper? Will PBR calipers bolt right up to this rotor?

No. The rotor is 10.5, the PBR rotor 11.7. The swap is PBR, however, is straightforward:

Re: Do these brakes look right?

Thats how my 3.45 9 bolt looks, the brakes are on opposite sides. I actually didnt notice it till i swapped in my 4th gen rear. Id get rid of those brakes though, they suck. And nice find on the 3.45 9 bolt, there pretty hard to find.
