Rear drums for moser rear end

I have a moser 9" and stayed with rear drums but I had to get drums off of a 71 chevelle(9.5 drum) which come on a lot of the old school cars such as 81 earlier camaros, novas, etc... I just bought the backing plates but now I need to buy the parts to assemble them. I was wondering if anyone could make a lst of parts I need and I will not be using the e-brake so I dont need that stuff. SOrry dont know a great deal about drums and there was a list of things at autozone when trying to see what I need and they were no help. If anyone has pictures to show me how to assemble those rear drums or installation instructions that would be very appreciated. Also do you know what flare the new wheel cylinders would be and what fitting would screw into them. The factory flares on my 87 firebird is an ISO flare right? Thanks for any help.

What brakes did you have on your car, and did you try to fit them to your new axle? I got my Strange axle with the '81 and older flanges, and got my stock drums to fit onto it.

Re: Rear drums for moser rear end

I have stock drum rear brakes on my old rear end and the car is an 87 firebird. I was told by moser I needed the 81 an older 9.5 inch drums. I am not sure if my old ones would fit or not ? was there modifications you had to do? Thanks

I just drilled holes in the factory backing plates for the bolt pattern that's on the axle, and reassemble.

Re: Rear drums for moser rear end

well thats good to know but I already have the older style backing plates modified and assembled on there are the older style drums set up the same way as the drums on our cars? or do they work differently? Just asking this so I can see if I can look at my old setup and try to duplicate it on my new drums. Thanks again

I'd think you could just duplicate the setup from your stock to the new ones. I wouldn't guess there beeing drastic differences between the two styles.
