I just got through doing a rear end swap from a 10 bolt to a 9 bolt 3.27 posi with the PBR brakes and 12 inch rotors. I have a problem however. I bled the lines and everything seemed fine. I took it for a drive however and the inside pad on the the passenger side is constantly rubbing on the rotor and the outside pad is always loose. the inside of the rotor is nice and cleaned off but the the outside is still a bit rusty meaning its not working. Drivers side doesnt appear to be working at all. What should i do? Are these calipers rebuildable? I def need new pads as well as rotors.
Also just in case anyone asks, it was a drum brake car and i have already taken care of installing a SSBC Adjustable proportioning valve and bench bleeding the master cylinder.

Did you clean and lube the housing/pins that the caliper slides on? If not, the caliper may be frozen in place. They are rebuildable. I recently purchased a kit from O'Reillys.Originally Posted by subroc

No i did not. I figured that could be the problem with the passenger side but the drivers side doesnt seem to be doing anything at all. Probably a good place to start would be just lubing those and seeing if they work again after that...if not then rebuild them entirely.

Definatly rebuild both those calipers, i did it after i pulled my new rear from the JY, It comes with everything necissary and should solve your problem. While you have everything apart you can polish up those calipers or paint them also. Takes about 20 mins each caliper once its off the rear end.
Ok so i didnt rebuild the calipers because the rubber wasnt cracked on the cylinder seal. I did find that both sides had one very badly seized slide pin. So i replaced the pins and lubed up the slide pins, packed new pads in the calipers and put on new rotors and it still rubs. Not as bad as before but still rubs. Is it possible i put the pads on the wrong way (there were two different types of pads but very close to eachother so i guessed). Or do u think i just took a shortcut when i shouldnt have in not rebuilding the calipers?

If a pin per side was seized, it wouldn't be a stretch to believe the pistons were seized as well. Here's a link to pad position:Originally Posted by subroc
