Removing shift ball

Can someone please help!! Im in the middle of replacing my emergency brake handle and need to know how to remove the shift ball (automatic transmission) so I can remove the console. I have a rod that has now fallen loose on the e brake handle so Im committed to getting this done. Can anyone assist with how to remove the ball?

Re: Removing shift ball

if its the same as the firebirds, there is a little clip on the front of the ball that you have to remove, its recessed into the ball a little and you can pry it out with a screwdriver.

Re: Removing shift ball

Thanks guys..After I posted my question I did a search and figured it out (probably should have done that first!). Anyway, I appreciate the replies. I got my ebrake replaced but oddly enough the brake light is still lit on my dash (??). Not really sure why as Im positive I plugged the wire onto the clip. Could something else be triggering the brake light?

Is there an adjustment for the parking brake light switch?

It may also be this:

It's been a while since I've looked and I'm old so the memory is pretty much shot, but under the hood downstream of the master cylinder there should be a manifold type looking thing (proportioning valve?) where the brake lines are connected. In the middle of the manifold, there should be a one wire connector. This wire is connected to a switch that feeds the BRAKE light.

The front brakes are connected to one end of the manifold; the rear brakes to the other end. Inside is a piston that is able to slide back and forth. Normally, it's centered. When there is an imbalance in hydraulic pressure between the front and rear brakes (like a leak), the piston slides over and closes (or opens) the switch turning on the BRAKE light.

Bleeding the front and rear brakes will usually get the light to turn off. Bleeding will re-center the piston.
