Hi guys,

I've just finished replacing the leaky rear caliper on my 84 T/A HO. I've bled the rear brakes only to remove the air, not the fluid. They're working fine, they hold the rear wheels firmly, same for the e-brake (though I need to adjust the cable).

But now when I push the pedal, it's spongy half way and then it's strong as it should. Also, I can see bubbles in the M.C rear reservoir.

I was told I shouldn't have pushed the pedal all the way down when bleeding the brakes. Does that mean the M.C is toast ?

sounds like air in the master
did you let the reservoir empty? if so bleed the master then bleed the lines back out

 

Sounds like whoever was pumping the brakes, might have lifted their foot a bit, before the bleeder was closed, & sucked air in.

Or worn threads somewhere/the bleeders themselves are bad, allowing air to get sucked in.

 

No, as I said, I bled only to remove the air in the system. I haven't replaced all the fluid.

 

There is air in the line.

Bleed it again.

 

when u bleed your brakes you suppose to make sure u got plenty of fluid in the front and rear resevoir and then keep doin the procedure until u get nuthin but fluid a couple of times.
