Braking Problems

Recently i have been noticing that everytime i press the brake pedal i would be going down and down. Yesterday i check the brake pads and had them replace with new one, also the brake hose. but still my car brake pedal went down and now it is hitting the floor. I checked my car for leaks but came up nothing. I tryed bleeding them a couple of time but it didn't help out. I am not sure if i should change the master cylinder or brake booster or both. If anyone can give me some advice soon i would like that because i use my car to get everywhere and have no other mood of transportation.
Here are some pic of the bake booster an dmaster cylinder

Re: Braking Problems

Im guessing its defiantly the master cylinder. The booster assists the brakes. Try this...with the car off, pump the brakes, if the pedal travels to the floor, then its your master cylinder...Generally If the pedal travels all the way to the floor with the car running then your booster isnt bad, but its off it should be hard,(when my booster went out, i had to double foot the brake to get it to travel a few inches) But if your pedal travels to the floor with no effort with the car off after a couple of pumps, then it most likey the master cylinder needing rebuilding. Try also seeing the difference by unpluging the booster's vacuum line, and kinking that same vacuum hose, Is it the same brake feeling?.. WHen off, Mine is hard as a rock after a couple of pumps to release the vacuum in the booster) but as some as i turn it on, the brake pedal goes farther via help assistance brake booster... If you fluid is like coffee color in the master, then thats a sign of seals being destroyed. and needs to be rebuilt. and have the lines all bleed with new fluid. Id go a step farther and replace the caliper rubber brake hoses, since the whole system would need a good bleeding. I recommend, bench bleeding the new rebuilt master, and use a vacuum pump bleeding kit. if your car was made b4 88' and you have rear disc brakes, then you might also have bad rear calipers, there was a recall on the back brakes, GM #18019028 they need rebuilding. If you need to replace the "master cylinder, brake fluid, hoses". itd run you about 100bucks. but for 40 dollar more, you can have steel braided brake lines. An extra 30 for the one man bleeding kit...if you have drum brakes, to adjust, after the rebuild and all, to adjust the rear drums, drive fast like 15 mph backwards like 20 ft, stop, drive forward back to start position, and repeat. They automatically adjust. but if you still got a bad master, i dont recommend

Re: Braking Problems

I was able to do some things that you you suggested and I believe that my master cyliner is bad. I was able to get a master booster/ cylinder from a trans am that was donor parts. it looked rebuilt but now i just have to put everything back together abd see what happens
Thanks for the help.
