perplexing brake issue

My son has a 87 Formula Firebird, front disc/rear drum. Car has a 305 with a mild cam. After doing some brake repairs including replacing the rear wheel cylinders and the master cylinder and new front pads, the car just flat doesn't want to stop. The system has been properly bled out, and has good pedal. Doesn't pull left or right or anything stupid like that. It just feels like it has inadequate brakes...can't even lock a wheel up if I sold tickets.

Anybody have any thoughts?

Re: perplexing brake issue

did you bench bleed the new master cylinder? This has to be done before its installed in the car. Air will be stuck in the master and no amount of bleeding will get it out because the master sits tilted up and air will sit at the top of it.

Will a pressure bleed do the trick?

Due to the plastic reservoir, I don't think you can pressure bleed. None of the pressure bleeders I've seen show 3rd Gens as having an application.

I'll try the bench bleed trick, and see if that does it. Thanks!!!
