So much conflicting information ! I just need a good , cheap setup.
First off I have a 87 Iroc , 4 wheel disks. Basically I have no pedal in the car. Brakes work but the pedal is just not there , goes to the floor. The car has sat for 10 years so I can care less what is causing the problem. Basically I am redoing everything because it is well, needed. Calipers , rotors , rubber hoses , master cylinder, etc.
Now my question is this , what is a very low cost (stock parts from other cars, parts at NAPA) brake setup that I can bolt up to my Iroc. Now I know there will not be a whole lot of differance from stock but any improvement is better then nothing. Its not a road track or drag car , just a Saturday night cruiser that needs to stop at the red lights.
Some have said LS1 car brakes , others have said C5 brakes, others have said they all suck . I can not find any consistant info on anything. And yes I have searched . Have searched here among other sites aswell. Hopefully there is at least 1 person out there that can help. I need to buy these parts asap so any help would be great . Or else I will be staying with stock.

the stock setup for your call will work great if everything is new. those C5 and LS1 brakes are very expensive. then you still may have a braking problem.

Here is what I have on my car and like them a lot. I use these rotors with semi-metallic pads. When I have to brake hard on dry pavement I can and it will plant you in the windshield if you don't have your belt on. The wheels do not lockup unless you hit a sandy or wet spot in the road. I also live and drive in the twisty mountain roads of NC and they haven't failed me yet. I'm just now having to change them after 10 years on the car.

As skirkland mentions, a new OE set-up should serve you well, especially since you're looking at Saturday night cruising.

Well with this info, looks like I will be sticking with stock. But most likely getting the drilled and slotted rotors along with some nice pads.
Not doing them yet so If anyone has any other info please chime in .

Stick with stock brakes, this is not going to be even a daily driver there is no reason to go performance.
NAPA has the stock Calipers and everything you need else, you just got to go talk to the guys at the store.
I don't count rotors and pads as aftermarket or stock, so for that just pick what you are willing to buy.
