bad proportion valve?
Hi guys I've had this problem for a while now since i redid my rear brakes(drum) they stick , I have replaced everything but the Mc ,prop valve, and front calipers, the front brakes work great the rears stick not stuck on just hanging up alot . So hears the question can that be caused by the prop valve being bad I'm already going to change the Mc but do you think maybe it's the prop valve i would hate to change the MC just to have to rebleed the whole system again to do the prop valve.

Re: bad proportion valve?
it could simply be the flex hose to the axle breaking down on the inside and stopping fluid from time to time. The prop valve doesnt really go bad, its just 1 moving part. ITs possible its sticking, but unlikely. If the rear flex hose is original, i bet that the issue, when you bled the brakes, something must have happened.
i assume both rear brakes are sticking not just one?

Re: bad proportion valve?
all flex lines are new , and yes they both stick if you jack the car up after driving for a while they are impossible to turn . When it first happened I disconnected the e-brake and backed the adjuster all the way off and they got hot and started sticking anyway. The pedal doesn't get soft or overly firm either, now the MC is full of all kinds of sludge even after bleeding about a quart of fluid threw it . Is there a way to clean out the prop valve , would it be as simple as running brake kleen threw it .

Re: bad proportion valve?
yeah it was pretty murky but I flushed a good quart through it till it came out clean but there was still some stuff stuck to the sides of the reservoir . could that have clogged up the prop valve ? and how should I go about cleaning it if it did?

if you have to clean it, the yellow switch on top has to come out, then the plugs on the ends, and there is a piston inside the valve, running front to back that will come out. Thats it. There is at least one o-ring on it.

Re: bad proportion valve?
alright thanks for your help i'm not sure which way I'm gonna go from here I found a couple places that sell new prop valves but i may give it the old college try (funny cause i never went) and flush it out and see where that gets me .it sucks cause If it wasn't for the brakes it's running great now . I just don't wanna take it apart and not fix it and possibly make it worse , but hey isn't that what it's all about .
