wobbling hub?
well i hope someone else has an answer cause im going nuts... i got my stock rotors machined to hubs to do my 4th gen front brakes about 2 months ago. i did my spindles at work and made my brackets. it feels like one side is wobbling per say. i changed out my bearings and the other side got better but my drivers side just doesn't feel right. i have a 91 formula and i had used spindles from an 84 z. not sure if that makes a difference so don't knock me if its something that simple. lol. i am in the process of doing the mods to the 91 spindles since i now have them spare and handy at work. i used 91 bearings if that made a difference either since i had all new parts handy except the spindles at the time. no other noises or other complaints. just wondering because on my old 85 had the same problem with the stock brakes and i froze up the bearings and lost my passenger side front wheel and half the spindle on the highway..... not looking forward to that again.{and yes i didn't over tighten them} i got an alignment, wheel balance, and new tires hoping that was the problem but i guess it isnt cause im askinmg for advice. btw i work in a garage/ machine shop so i have pretty good technical background. thanks in advance.

Did you check the rims for run out yourself?
They often skip that step.
Bought all new to fix a similar problem, then went back when I wasn't happy, they then found a bent rim.

i didnt think of that. there the same 16" rims ive had on for 2 yrs tho? i drove it to my gfs dads to do the swap and when i left it started? guess its going up at lunch time tomorrow. im assuming just spin it in the air and look for a rim wobble?

Re: wobbling hub?
oh i forgot to mention that the issue gets worse with speed. under 65 and its manageable. after that it gets pretty scary.

Re: wobbling hub?
Not that simple, they check it when doing the balance, which some will say the computer wouldn't of balanced it but the entry lvl job into a shop is tire changer and there must be a way.
I made em change all 4 of my tires n reblance them, after I went out n bought 4 new rims some place else

Re: wobbling hub?
its the wheel no longer being centered by the hub
as the new rotor sits on the lip that used to center the wheel
i just figured this out after a few months "years really" of vibration problems after doing a c4 brake upgrade the stock wheels use the hub to center themselfs some factory rotors have a tick longer lip and continues to center the wheel most do not so you end up with a
perfectly balanced wheel that feels unblanced on the car
you will need hub centric rings to correct the issue

First ride had massive wheel hop. 2nd attempt I did a better eyeball job.

Re: wobbling hub?
i pulled the wheel off at work on fri and spun the rotor.. it seem warped almost. i just put new ones on and it didnt shake when i hit the brakes driving so i looked further. pulled the rotor off and spun the hub..... you could see that it wasnt higher on one side then the other so warped basically... i changed it out since i had 4 made at the same time to keep as spares. the ride home felt good but today im doing a 75 mile drive so tonight ill post the results. btw where the rotor sat on the hub was worn pretty bad.....the center that is...

Re: wobbling hub?
rotors can warp suddenly but how I have no idea.
Had one recentaly go like that on my Moms Subaru, was a real stumper.

Re: wobbling hub?
yea im bummed. i really got to look at things and take measurements today. the rotor has massive warpage. the new hub i had made as a spare is straight atleast. the bearings on the drivers side were alittle tight... my mistake. the old hub was actually warped. i know i made a few good stops to seat the pads but geesh. gonna order another on monday. oh well
