hey guys, I searched the entire brake section and I did not find anything about my situation so I figured I would make my own.

This is going to be kind of hard to explain but here it goes.

When my car has been sitting for awhile the brakes act up for a couple of minutes then they go back to normal. What happens is, if I press down on the brake pedal, the front tires like lock up and they just skid. So I have to like barely press down on the brakes for the first couple of minutes I am driving.

Recently I had the front rotors resurfaced, got new brake pads, and caliper bolts. After the first couple of minutes when the brakes are acting funny, they work perfectly. I mean the car has never slowed down so smoothly. It usually only has the problem in the morning since it has been sitting overnight, and when I get off of work, since it has been sitting for 8 hours.

if the rotors rust a little, the brakes will be grabby for the first could applications.

how are the calipers? the boots may be shot and the pistons are rusting and seizing up a little.

remanned calipers are dirt cheap at most parts stores

The rotors were just resurfaced, haven't looked at them since I got them done though.
I think the calipers are in pretty good shape, I'll go out and take a look at em.

new, resurfaced or not, they are bare steel and rust quickly when its damp or it rains. happens to every car in the world. not so depending on how the wheels are designed.

You might consider replacing the front lines, which sometimes collapse internally and act as a check valve.

same thing just happened to me. I replaced the front brake lines and that solved the problem. Cost was around $30 including brake fluid (diy). Hope that helps. Randy
