C5 Upgrade Question

Getting ready to order brackets from ED (flynbye) just had some questions dont want to bug ED i know he is a busyguy. I already have C5 calipers front and rear abutment brackets front and rear rotors and pads.
I had stock drum brakes on my car upgraded to a 4th gen disc rear what do i need for proportioning valve to make everything work right?
Im going to order the Rear kit with E-brake setup what do i need to make the cables work right?
The last queston is what part number for wheel studs did people use?
I tryed searching but its hard to find solid answers on the C5 swap and most are old.

Thanks in advance for any help
Cameron

Re: C5 Upgrade Question

As for the proportioning valve you need one for 4 wheel disc brakes. On my 84 I used the stock one (I had 4 wheel disc) works great. Ecables it depends which you install the backing plates. I installed mine (both) facing front of car (I had extra one to do this). I would save yourself a lot of trouble and buy ed's set of cables. I installed c5 vette cables had to make hold down brackets drill holes, modify hookup bracket at front end to make it work, a lot of work. I have done several of these and found one problem on a few. When you intall the axles they may not go in far enough to slide the c clip in. It has to slide in easy or you will never get it out. The rubber gasket between the rear housing and the backing plate moves the backing plate out and axle flang hits the ebrake adjuster stopping it from going alway in. I made a new gasket using old one for templet. Use Felpro #3157 rubber fiber works great. You may still have to use a C clamp (put between axle flang and rear housing to pull axle into the rear all the way in). Also bolt up everything loose first before you use the red lockit, make sure you are happy with setup. This axle problem was only on posi rears. Ed's kit works great. Another thing I have run into (front c5 setup) when you make the hub it calls for 5.92 oem vette size where it fits to rotor. I have found some aftermarket rotors smaller, cut lip on hub to 5.88 you will have no problems. Good luck, take your time, you will love how it stops when completed. P.S. use good pads.

Re: C5 Upgrade Question

I've just gone through a LS1 front/LT1 PBR rear upgrade.
I've used the J65 master /prop valve from a donor car however my rear brakes don't function as they should.
Whether it's adjustment or not I'm thinking an adjustable prop valve may be the solution.

Are you using a 1LE combination valve?

That's a good question.
I'm using whatever master/prop valve that was OEM on a 86 IROC with 4-wheel discs (rears being the iron Delco units).
I believe it's the J65 option (as the masters have distinctly different bore diameters) however I can't find an identifying label or pn to distinguish one prop valve from another.
Is there a potential issue?
For the record, I've tried on several occasions to get the 1LE prop valve from Mr Miller (I even manged to reach him on the phone a couple of times!) however, no luck with his inventory or returned calls.

All four-wheel disc set-ups, 82-92, are J65; however, the 89-92 PBR version apparently required more bias, thus a different valve. I'm using the 1LE and braking is first-rate. You might check the classifieds as it seems to me there's one for sale there.

I have C5 up front, LS1 out back with the 1LE combo valve. It stops great.
