soft brake pedal
On my Trans Am last summer I performed a cam swap and installed headers. I think my fluids boiling because since then I have had a soft pedal. I don't think its a bleeding problem because they were fine before, and the one line is really close to the headers (hedman shorties). I just redid the front end rotors and pads so they are good. Do you guys think the problem is the headers? It does it pretty much from start up but I know headers get hot fast. The help is greatly appreciated.

Re: soft brake pedal
Never seen that, but not trying to say it's not possible. You can bend those lines some to get a tad more headerr clearance - but if the brake line is not touching the header I'd look elsewhere for a problem. I have one curl of a brake line that's within 1/2inch of a header, and never had any issues.
How long has it been since the rubber brake hoses were replaced?

Re: soft brake pedal
We were told by the previous owner that after an engine fire all rubber in the front end was replaced, but I don't know if they were replaced or not. I bent the brake lines over so maybe that isn't the problem. Tomorrow I guess I could get the cousin to watch the lines while I press the brake.

Re: soft brake pedal
What cam did you put in??
Possibly not building enough vacuum for the booster.
If that's the issue, you need some type of vacuum reservour can.
Electric pump avialable too, around $300.

The cam I installed was the 280h comp (no exact specs but its on their web site) and its kinda gnarly... I don't really understand the vacuum booster and had figured that it would just go really stiff if that was a problem.

Re: soft brake pedal
For me anyway, I had a slight vacuum issue with mine, and I found out that, for whatever reason, if I bumped my timing up a bit and lowered my carb idle back down, I got a bit more vacuum. May help some, I don't know - just throwing it out there.
