Brakes spongy after new parts ... Any ideas?

I recently put new front brake hoses, calipers, rotors and pads on the front of my z28 and filled the master cylinder back up and blead the front brakes and now my brakes are really spongy and won't hardly stop the car. I did have the calipers off for a day while I was busy with other things and the side for the front brakes in the master cylinder drained empty. I don't think I should have to bleed the rears because they shouldn't have gotten air in them. Is there something I need to do because I ran the one side on the resivour empty? Any help would be appreciated.

You'll probably have to bench bleed the master.

I was wondering if that would be the case. Can I do that while it's still bolted onto the booster in the car?

You can bleed it with it bolted in to the car. Power brakes or manual brakes dosen't matter either. You just won't have full pressure with the engine off with power.
In the future when you take off a caliper or line, if you know or think it's going to be off for awhile put a vacuum line cap on the end of the line. Should hold your fluid in for you.
