Rear right drum brake problems

When I hit the brakes, I can hear a squealing sound coming from the passenger rear brake. Sometimes when I'm a little on the hard side with the brakes the car goes to the right a little. I assume it's because of that brake. I can also hear a rubbing sound. But it's not consistent. It's more of a "pulsating" sound. Any ideas? It's been messed up since day 1.

And another question...should the brake pedal be hard to push or really smooth and easy? Mine is sort of hard but not as hard as if the engine is not running.

Re: Rear right drum brake problems

Could be anything - warrants removing the drum to see. Might be a worn shoe, a cracked shoe, something got in between the show and drum, a stuck wheel cylinder, and broken piece of the adjuster, a broken spring, the list goes on and on.

I'd just plan a few hours, get the parts, and rebuild both rear brakes.

And, these are not Caddy's - they are going to brake stiffer than a land yacht (I hope, I hate 'floating' through town!).

Re: Rear right drum brake problems

A bout a month or 2 ago I replaced both adjusters and the packages came with springs and other various things. You're saying I should put them all in and replace them. I have school vacation next week so I'll set a day then to do it.
