How to install new clip on rear wheel cylinder?

Hi everyone,

I am replacing the wheel cylinder on the left rear of my '92 and cannot figure out how to install the new spring steel retainer that holds the wheel cylinder in with the limited space behind the backing plate. I can't figure out how to get enough leverage on it to lock in place. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Jason

It's been a long time since I did one, but I remember it being a royal PITA. Determination will be the best tool for the job. I can't for the life of me remember how I got that sucker back in, but I don't have any fancy tools, so it was sheer determination and just enough being PO'd that got it for me.

clamp the cylinder so it stays put,,,then take the clip and place it at the right place..then tap it in..it should just wedge itself in when you tap it ..remove the clamp that was holding the cylinder and make sure the cylinder doesn't move.

Solved the problem...I just took 1 1/8" socket, put it over the retainer, and used a C-clamp to squeeze the retainer in place by putting the bottom of the clamp on the front of the wheel cylinder. Just had to think about it awhile.

Just replaced mine. Even with the new clips, the wheel cylinder still wiggles a bit.

just got it on, i used a 1 and 3/8 circular drill bit and wedged wood infront of the cylinder to hold it steady and i got it after a couple trys you really just have to get the right angle. but it sits in there nice and snug. but now i have to put these stupid springs back on :/
