hard pedal...not the booster...
This is driving me nuts. Can't figure it out.
Just finished putting in a 383 tuned port and a T56. Pedal was as hard as a rock. Naturally, I assumed it was the booster, and it wasn't holding a vacuum. I replaced the booster with a 4thgen unit using the thirdgen piston assembly.
Brakes STILL as hard as a rock. Somehow the vacuum fitting for the booster got plugged so I cleaned out the booster fitting and I'm now getting 18" of vacuum to the booster at idle. STILL hard as a rock.
I checked the booster and it is working and it is holding vacuum. I cracked the lines at the master to see if it's pushing fluid and it was. I cracked the lines after the prop valve and I also got brake fluid. I checked the brake lines thinking I nudged one during engine installation. One looked out of place, but no kinks or damage. No other issues. Brakes worked like a champ before the drivetrain swap. The one line looked like it was pulled out of place before, not recently...has a 45 degree bend in it that isn't there on my '86 Z... but I am getting fluid out of that caliper and it doesn't stick or bind.
Im running 4thgen pedals with a 4thgen booster with the thirdgen piston and master cylinder now. No difference. Nothing keeping the pedal from moving under the dash. 63000 mile GTA and all the calipers were swapped a few years back. I even swapped the master cylinder...no change. I have a hard time believing that all 4 calipers are froze, it only sat for 2 months waiting for me to swap drivetrains. This is driving me nuts. Any ideas?
