Changing Brake Booster

I have read through a few posts and have come to my final likely solution for the issue of a hard pedal to press. The vacuum lines are all fine and I have changed the check valve. I was wondering what issues or anything else I should now before changing the booster? Do i need to bleed the brakes or what? Is it hard to change?

Thanks!

Re: Changing Brake Booster

no bleeding required. just unbolt the 2 nuts from the booster that hold the master on, then the other 4 nuts are under the dash. Depending on the car and the options/routing of BS under the dash, it may be easier/harder. you will need some universal joints, socket, wrenchs and extensions. Its a little tight.

Re: Changing Brake Booster

I have read some people have had a hard time changing them, but like said above I guess it depends on the car. Just did my 84 Berlinetta and took me less than an hour.

getting the one out of my 86 was a complete disaster/nightmare. my 92 on the other hand, quite simple.

Re: Changing Brake Booster

That's good info, I need to replace mine on my 92rs.
Is there any difference between the v6 and v8 boosters?

There isn't a difference. I asked like 3-4 of the guys at the parts store to look it up for both. It carries the same part #.
