completely different spindles, no way interchangeable. any local machine shop should be able to cut down a set of factory 3rd gen non-1LE rotors to correctly add the LS1 brakes to your car. grab a set from a local junkyard, shouldn't cost much and you can keep driving your car while you're collecting parts for the upgrade

Nope. You don't want them anyway, 3rd gen front hub setup is superior. Like the others said, you have to have a set of 3rd gen rotor/hubs cut down into a hub. Basicly cutting thr rotor off and just keeping the hub with the wheel studs.

I actually did this at work last year for a friend, I used a regular brake lathe, I first cut the rotor so thin it came off the hub, then I make a bracket to hold the rotor cutting bit and slowly cut the hub down, worked great.

4TH gen guys that are tracking their cars are having hub failures. There are a fewguys out there making hub conversions to use the 3rd gen set up.

Buddy had a 92 Vette race car. He hada hub failure in corner 1 at Mosport at about 120 mph. Wheel came off and he kept it straight and off the wall. Wheel actually rolled up behind the car for easy retrieval. About $1500 in suspension and body damage. Lucky day!

Kinda like how I was hearing the C6 Z06 brakes arent as good as the C5Z06 brakes... but I cant find any references to that anywhere now... something about using the same rotor on both sides and one side overheats...?
Newer isnt always better I guess....

I haven't checked, but I hear one of the zo6 rotors is vented backwards from .the factory. Causing overheated brakes when pushed hard

The C6 Z06 fronts are not side specific, thus one side will be vented backwards. The C5 rotors are side specific. I haven't heard of over heating, but the possibilty makes sense.
