Brakes and reaerend quetions
I know it has prolly been posted before. I just exploded a mini spool in my stock reaer end. I had previously purchased a complete rearend setup. It has the disc brakes out of an 86 model car. My car is the 91 with rear drums. Quetion is, does the e-brake have to be hooked up to make brakes work? Will this posi chunk fit in my rearend? If I install a line loc do I have to install a manual proportioning valve?
Thanks guys I have looked for a post about all this but I can not find the answer.

A: A technical service bulletin described this for early-mid '80s rear disk brakes. It seems that the rear disks in these cars would be adjusted by applying the emergency brake. When you pull the emergency brake lever up, the lever turns this little device called an actuator screw. This little screw type device is also on a ratchet, so that pulling the e-brake up, turns the screw. But letting go allows the ratchet part to function and set the pads at that time. So, using the emergency brake is mandatory for maintaining the rear disk setting on early model rear disk units.
The 86 (I assume a 10-bolt) will have 26-spline axles, the 91 28 splines. Nothing will swap from a 9-bolt.
